Pieter Aspe is the pseudonym of Pieter Aspeslag, Belgian author born in Bruges in 1953. He studied at the Sint-Leocollege Bruges and participated actively in the student movement and struggle of the 70s.
After graduation, Aspe practiced a variety of odd jobs ranging from educator, vintner, janitor at the famous Chapel of the Holy Blood in Bruges, after the seller in grains and cereals, used in a textile company and a mutual fund, not to mention seasonal marine police and photographer!
All surveys written by Aspe depict the friendly policemen and Van In Versavel, assisted by the substitute Martens (Einstein's brain in mannequin body!). They are full of humor and tenderness but also touches of reflection on the functioning of the Belgian administrations, social life in Belgium.
